Short-term rental regulations

On September 16, 2017, Law 6/2017, of July 31, amending Law 8/2012, of July 19, on Tourism in the Balearic Islands, entered into force, regulating the commercialization of tourist stays in homes. See the consolidated texts: Law 6/2017 and Law 8/2012. For implementing rules, see Decree 20/2015, of April 17.

The law introduces important nuances in the legal regime for commercializing tourist stays in homes. Review the tourist accommodation regulations to understand categories and requirements.

Tourist stays

In addition to Law 6/2017, the Government of the Balearic Islands approved Decree 20/2015 on general principles and coordination in tourism, advisory and coordination bodies, and regulation/classification of companies and tourist establishments, developed under Law 8/2012. Refer to the decree here: Decree 20/2015.
