The Barcelona City Council enforces strict inspection and control measures to ensure tourist households comply with local regulations. As a host on OH-Stay.com, you must maintain compliance with local rules. It’s also a good idea to follow local tourism policy updates from Barcelona City Council.

Tourist accommodations
If you rent out—directly or indirectly—an immediately available living space repeatedly to paying guests for short-term stays, it is considered a “tourist accommodation (HUT)” under Catalonia’s rules. See the Catalonia Tourism framework for definitions and categories.

Registration
You must register any accommodation you plan to offer as a tourist accommodation before hosting guests. Registration is done with the Catalonia Tourism Registry (Registre de Turisme de Catalunya) via a statement of responsibility (declaració responsable) to the competent authority (Generalitat de Catalunya / Barcelona City Council where applicable).

Advertising your accommodation
When you register, the Catalonia Tourism Registry assigns a registration number (e.g., HUTB-000000). You must display this number in all advertising, including your OH-Stay.com listing. Add it in the Listing details section. For Barcelona, see the city’s guidance for tourist housing (HUT).

Taxes
In general, the income you earn from renting your home is taxable, and you may have to collect and pay other taxes to the tax authorities.
